Explore outdoor activities in Livadia and nearby: Krya walks, Mount Helicon hiking, cycling routes, family nature ideas, winter escapes and mountain-to-sea trips.
Livadia is surrounded by remarkable outdoor landscapes — from the river gorge at its centre to the forested slopes of Mount Helicon, the archaeological plains of Kopais and the sea at Antikyra.
Walking and Hiking
The Krya gorge walk is the essential starting point — easy, beautiful, accessible to all fitness levels. The extension to the castle adds challenge and elevation. More serious hiking is available on Mount Helicon, with routes through fir forests to the higher plateaus.
Cycling
The plain of Kopais — the former lake now a vast agricultural plain — offers flat cycling terrain linking Livadia, Orchomenos and the Mycenaean sites of the region.
Swimming and the Sea
Antikyra on the Corinthian Gulf is the nearest sea swimming, roughly 45 minutes from Livadia, depending on the route. The route there, through the mountains of the Helicon foothills and past Hosios Loukas, makes it a natural full-day excursion.
Winter Sports
Parnassus ski resort is usually around an hour from Livadia, making the town a practical base for a skiing day trip in winter. The mountain villages of Helicon offer forest walks and cool temperatures year-round.
