Agia Anna: Hiking Base for the Higher Side of Helicon

Agia Anna: Hiking Base for the Higher Side of Helicon — Visit Livadia, Central Greece
Agia Anna — a key destination in the Livadia region.

Agia Anna is the most useful base for travellers wanting to access the higher ridges of Mount Helicon. Sitting above Kyriaki on the road that continues toward the summit area, it provides the best departure point for serious hiking on the mountain.

The Village

Agia Anna is smaller and quieter than Kyriaki, oriented more toward hikers and those continuing further up the mountain than toward casual day visitors. Facilities are modest, in keeping with its role as a staging point rather than a destination in itself.

Hiking from Agia Anna

Routes from Agia Anna lead toward Paliovouna and the higher plateau areas of Helicon. The summit region offers views across Boeotia, the Kopais plain, and on clear days as far as the Gulf of Corinth. Proper hiking footwear is recommended, and weather conditions should be checked before any serious ascent.

Routes and Trails

The paths connecting Agia Anna with Zeriki and the higher ridgelines vary considerably in difficulty. Less experienced walkers should stick to the lower forest trails; those with proper preparation can continue toward the genuine summit terrain.

Getting There

Agia Anna sits further along the mountain road past Kyriaki and Zeriki — allow the better part of an hour from Livadia, and confirm road conditions in advance during winter months.
